Kalgoorlie-Boulder is Australia’s largest outback city, situated 596 km northeast of Perth, with a population of 30,000. The City has an annual operating budget of $40 million and employs 280 staff.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s traditional economic base has been and will continue to be mining. However, the City is ensuring that this is diversified across a number of sectors, including:

  •  Tourism

  •  Transport

  •  Services

Our aim is to provide a strong and vibrant economy that caters for a wide range of people wanting to live and work in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, whilst recognising that creating and maintaining a diverse and vibrant community is important in ensuring that we can accommodate the needs and aspirations of its residents.

Providing this balance is seen as a key to the sustainability of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, as we have a vision of being a sustainable regional city of the future.

The City’s Community Strategic Plan has detailed the key elements of this vision, with the Councillors and staff working together in order to make Kalgoorlie-Boulder a great place to live, work and play.

Please take the opportunity to explore the City’s website and do not hesitate to contact Council staff if you need any further information.
