Walk of Fame Awards

Details:  The Walk of Fame Awards started back in 2011 to honour the recipients for their significant and positive contribution to the region.  The recipients are considered for the award due to the recognition they have bought to Kalgoorlie nationally and internationally.
Each year, the Walk of Fame Committee will consider the recognition of at least one outstanding Kalgoorlie individual with a plaque to be placed on the Eastern end of Hannan Street in the Kalgoorlie CBD.  

The recipients will be unveiled at the Australia Day Awards ceremony and two other events during the year, to be confirmed.

Aussie Day Festival

Details:  Join the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community to celebrate Aussie Day in style!

Starting with the 2018 Australia Day Awards and Walk of Fame presentations, a Citizenship Ceremony, and delicious roast meat and gravy rolls from the combined Rotary Clubs of Boulder, Hannans and Kalgoorlie, kick on with the first Sunset at the Soundshell concert of the year featuring local act Powder Keg before our headline act, the Antipodean Rock Collective take the stage! Made up of Kram from Spiderbait, Darren Middleton from Powderfinger, Davey Lane from You Am I and Mark Wilson from JET, this band will not disappoint! Finish the night with a bang as you enjoy the spectacular fireworks display! 
 
Sunset of the Soundshell

Details:  The Sunset of the Soundshell Concerts are free outdoor community concerts which host tribute bands from all over Australia. 
There'll be a bad moon rising as the Soundshell crowds kick back and enjoy "Ramble Tamble", a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band.
 
WA Opera Presents La Boheme

Details:  This free night of glamour, elegance and entertainment starts at 6:30pm with complimentary champagne, live music and an atmosphere filled with style.  Join friends in the Arts Centre foyer with served canapes and cocktails before a live simulcast of W Opera’s production La Boheme graces the theatres at 8pm.

Explore the Goldfields Community Expo

Emma and Lachy Tour

International Women’s Day

Details:  International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century.  This day which is celebrated by the entire globe, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.  Come along and enjoy inspirational presentations and vibrant entertainment as we celebrate International Women’s Day.

KBCCI and Variety Geoff Kemp Charity Golf Day

Details:  This annual event raises much needed awareness and funds for Variety; The Children’s Charity.  Whilst it is a charity event, it has a strong business focus being an excellent opportunity to network with existing, new or potential clients on the world class Kalgoorlie Golf Course.  Participants are provided with breakfast on arrival, on course food and beverages throughout the day and a presentation luncheon.

Sounds on the Salt Lake

Details:  Mathias Duplessy is a French Composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist who throughout his voyages to the Far East and beyond, has been graced with fortuitous encounters with some of the worlds most accomplished musicians – the Violins of the World.  Mathias Duplessy’s passion for undiscovered musical terrains has led him to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, where in partnership with the Brownley Gospel Singers, will give birth to a new musical adventure.  A pure gold performance – pliable though mixed with undiscovered sounds of cross cultural fusions of traditional folk songs and original pieces as well as various classics arranged by Mathias Duplessy.

Australian Chamber Orchestra

Details:  The Australian Chamber Orchestra will be in Kalgoorlie, live in concert for one night only.  The Australian Chamber Orchestra performs concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra, and now the Goldfields Arts Centre.  Their 2018 season embraces a journey where they interrogate and reinvigorate the established classic favourites, while continuing to push the boundaries with exciting new music.  They perform an unforgettable experience of a lifetime, live in concert.

Johnny Cash Tribute Show

Goldfields KidsFest "Goldrush"

Details:  If you’re a kid or have kids, you cannot miss this free, two day festival!  Goldfields KidsFest brings exciting entertainment, activities and sports to one place for a whole weekend of fun for 0 to 12 year olds.  

Entry is free as are the activities.  Community food stalls offers a delicious selection of tasty treats for purchase or you’re welcome to bring a home-packed picnic to enjoy the day.
 
Menopause the Musical

Details:  Inspired by a hot flush and a bottle of wine, Menopause the Musical was created as a celebration of women who are on the brink, or in the middle of, or have survived, “the change”.  Enjoy a ladies night out and come along to this hilarious musical parody staged to classical tunes from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s that will have you cheering and dancing in the aisles.

Set in a department store, four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra on sale, come to find that they have more to share than ever imagined.  The cast makes fun of their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges.  A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realise that Menopause is no longer “the silent passage”, but a stage in every women’s life, which is perfectly normal.

Heritage Festival

A Town Named War Boy

Details:  Based on the State Library of NSW’s jaw-dropping collection of First World War diaries, photographs and letters, “A Town Named War Boy” brings to life the personal accounts of the young men that set sail for the far side of the world.  Some of these diaries and letters are finished, others just stop.  When you read them you meet the person, see the changes in their hand writing, feel the indentation of the pen, the smudges of changed thoughts.  Our young past is captured, alive and preserved.

Kalgoorlie Waste Summit

Details:  The WA Local Government Association, working with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, will host a two day Waste Summit in May.  This event will provide opportunities to discuss the key waste management issues for the Goldfields region and hear from State and Local Government, industry and community representatives about waste management challenges and initiatives.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Heart of Gold App Launch

Multicultural Festival

Karlkurla Dreaming Culture Tour

Venue:  Karlkurla Bushland Park

Details:  Experience the Karlkurla Bushland Park with local Indigenous and Kalgoorlie Boulder Urban Landcare Group guides.  Learn about the native flora, bush medicine, bush tucker, historical events and Dreamtime stories, while finishing off with some billy tea and damper.

125th Historic Gala

Dave Hughes

Details:  Dave Hughes has left an indelible mark on the Australian comedy scene over the last two decades.  He nails gig after gig, sells out theatres nationally and continues to get better every year.  Often referred to as “a typical Aussie bloke”, Hughesy is actually an unusual success story.  From working class roots, the university drop-out and former abattoir worker has risen to become one of Australia’s most popular and successful stand-up comedians.  He is currently the hottest comedy act touring nationally and internationally so don’t miss out of this cracker of a show.
Women’s Leadership Forum

Sports Star of the Year Awards

Details:  The Goldfields Sports Star of the Year Awards recognises and celebrates sporting achievements throughout the Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Kambalda and Coolgardie regions.  A number of awards are presented during the presentation evening, such as Rising Star, Person with a Disability, Service to Sport, Masters Sports Star of the Year, Team of the Year and Sports Star of the Year.  

Each year, the committee also induct a local sporting icon into the Goldfields Sporting Hall of Fame.  Inductees are recognised for their outstanding contribution and achievements in sport.

Hall of Famers their name immortalized into Historic Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie, where the local community can be reminded of the great sporting heroes of the region.

What’s Down the Track Forum

Details:  The What’s Down the Track Forum is a joint venture between the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA and the Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce with the support of Goldfields Esperance Development Commission.  The forum provides the ultimate insight into what’s actually happening today and into the foreseeable future of the resource sector in the Goldfields Esperance region.  

The forum consists of twenty five fifteen minute briefings by businesses and industry leaders whom will share their first-hand information on the changes happening locally and in the wider region. The event is a great opportunity to meet such influential people with each presenter having a vested interest in the region.

Lighting of the Christmas Tree Street Party

Details:  This family friendly event is packed to the brim with themed activities, entertainment and fireworks!  The Lighting of the Christmas Tree Street Party is one of the most popular family friendly events on the City’s annual events calendar which includes hours of non-stop entertainment on the main stage, local musicians, local performers, children’s activities, bouncy castles and much more.  Children can meet Santa, Mrs Clause and their little helpers in person before they join Mayor John Bowler in lighting the Christmas Tree, which is then followed by spectacular fireworks!
Miner’s Memorial

Details:  The Miner’s Memorial is held to honour the men and women who have lost their lives servicing the mining industry over the past century.  The service is attended by family members, mine management and mines rescue personnel.  Members of the public are also encourages to attend to show their respects and lay floral tributes if they wish.  A symbolic miner’s lamp will be lit to signify the beginning of the St Barbara’s Festival.

St Barbara’s Parade

Details:  Undoubtedly the showcase of the St Barbara’s Festival, the Parade, is a fun filled extravaganza for the whole family.  Thousands of people gather for the Parade to watch the enormous pieces of mining equipment rumble down historical Hannan Street including an enormous KCGM Cat 793 Haul Truck standing 6 metres tall, 8 metres wide and 13 metres long! 

Along with mining equipment, you can expect to see community organisations, schools, animals, prospectors and mines rescue demonstrations.  You might even catch a glimpse of a Christmas Elf!
