About the Kalgoorlie Town Hall
The Kalgoorlie Town Hall, located on the corner of Hannan and Wilson Streets, is one of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s major landmarks.
Built as a state-of-the-art theatre in 1908, this impressive Edwardian-styled building has many beautiful architectural features such as:
- Ornate pressed metal ceilings
- Sweeping staircase.
Other highlights include:
- Fly tower—with original theatre rigging
- Backstage area with 11 dressing rooms
- Extensive collection of art and memorabilia.
As a town hall, it still hosts the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Council meetings 100 years later. The Council Chambers and Mayor’s Parlour on the first floor contain many objects, photographs and paintings of historic value.
A lift has recently been installed to provide better access to the first floor of the building.
