The event, which is open to the whole community, will build on the question “are you ok?” by reinforcing the four steps to a conversation, empowering Australians to ask, listen, encourage action and check in.
There will be activities for all ages, including Skateboarding WA activities in the skate park, the YMCA Sumo Suits, and R U OK? Celebrity Ambassador, model and actor Annalise Braakensiek.
RU OK? Will have merchandise at the event, and there will be a coffee van and Red Cross will be cooking a sausage sizzle.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the event was focused around bringing the whole community together to ask the question ‘Are you okay?’.
“In a busy community like Kalgoorlie-Boulder, particularly a community that has people working long hours and shift work, where they might be experiencing social isolation, it’s important to be reminded that it’s okay to reach out and ask others how they’re doing,” he said.
“The City is installing an ‘R U OK?’ bench in Kingsbury Park as an ongoing, physical reminder to the community to sit down and ask the questions that matter and making a positive difference in someone’s life.”
