Reroofing of the William Grundt Memorial Library and the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre, including the Adult Day Centre, will commence on Monday 7 October.
It is anticipated the works will be carried out with minimal disruptions to services at either facility over a six week period.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO said the short timeframe of works and the fact that both services could continue to operate throughout the reroofing period was a significant part of the decision making process when appointing a contractor.
“Both the library and Community Centre provide important services to our community, so being able to provide that continuity of service, combined with the minimal disruptions and the fact that the staff and equipment don’t need to be moved out of the buildings while works take place is definitely a plus for the City,” he said.
“There may be restricted access to some areas of the facilities during the work, but patrons and clients will be notified as works progress.”
The works will be carried out from 6am until 7pm Monday to Friday, 7am until 7pm on Saturdays, and 9am until 7pm on Sundays, and are expected to be completed by mid November. During the project works, regular updates will be published on the City’s website www.ckb.wa.gov.au
, on the City’s Facebook page and on public notice boards.
