Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Walk of Fame Nominations Now Open

14-11 Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Walk of Fame Nominations Now Open Nominations are now open for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Australia Day Awards encompassing the Australia Day Citizen Award and Australia Day Community Group or Event of the Year award, and for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Walk of Fame.

The Australia Day Award winners will be judged against a number of criteria, including active citizenship, making a significant contribution to the local community and showing demonstrated leadership on a community issue relating to the enhancement of community life.

The winning nomination would also demonstrate undertaking a significant initiative that has brought about a positive change and added value to community life, and showing inspiring qualities as a role model for the community.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the Australia Day Awards provided an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the outstanding individuals and community groups that made Kalgoorlie-Boulder great.

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a long and proud history of acknowledging people who contribute to our unique and diverse community. To date, we have recognised some very remarkable people in our Australia Day Awards,” he said.

“Every day, people in our community are working hard for the benefit of others, be it through a sporting club, community service group, or just by volunteering as an individual. These are the people who go above and beyond with their time and skills to enhance our City’s liveability and provide a positive impact for all to enjoy.

“If you know a person, group or event that has made a significant positive contribution to our community during 2019 or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years through active involvement then put them forward and ensure their contribution gets the recognition it deserves.”

Walk of Fame nominations are also open. Eligible nominations will be considered for people who have made a significant and positive contribution to the region which is now known as the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

The awards will be announced on 26 January 2020 at the annual Australia Day Awards Ceremony at Centennial Park.

Nominees should reside or work principally within the locality of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and awards may be granted posthumously.

Nominations close on Monday, 6 January 2020.
