The City is celebrating Australia Day long weekend with an array of art and music events kicking off from Saturday, 25 January 2020.
The weekend’s events include a reinvigorated display of Our People’s Collection: Highlights Exhibition
at the Goldfields Arts Centre, and the first of the Sunset at the Soundshell concert series featuring Australian singer-songwriter Diesel.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder General Manager of City Living Holly Phillips said it was exciting to see the City continue to foster its arts and cultural offerings with a collection of events and activities for the community to enjoy and get involved in.
“Our People’s Collection opens on Saturday, 25 January from 10am-3pm at the Goldfields Arts Centre and runs through until 22 February. Throughout the duration of the exhibition there will be some fun workshops and a free guided tour.”
Multi-ARIA award winner, and Australian singer-songwriter Mark Lizotte, aka DIESEL, will bring his distinct brand of guitar and vocals to Kalgoorlie to kick off the first of the Sunset at the Soundshell Outdoor Concert series on Australia Day. As well as a free concert, Australia Day celebrations include an impressive fireworks display, food trucks and a kids’ play zone.
“The Summer Sunset Concert Series caters to young families, couples, shift-workers and visitors, with something for everyone, so bring your own picnic, or enjoy the delicious food options on-site”, she said.
Australia Day at Centennial Park will include the combined Rotary Club BBQ breakfast, in addition to the Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day awards that evening from 6.00pm.
