The Goldfields Football Festival will be putting soccer in the spotlight in Kalgoorlie-Boulder from April 8 til April 15, with high profile players, coaches and officials visiting to conduct a series of workshops and clinics in the City.
The Perth Glory Youth Team will be joined for the annual Regional Cup match by the Sorrento Football Club, with a curtain raiser match between under 17 sides from Esperance Soccer Association and the Goldfields Soccer Association.
The players will also be featured at both the Goldfields KidsFest and YouthFest, with coaching clinics and skill development workshops, with the Football West giant inflatable soccer pitch.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said hosting the Goldfields Football Festival was a great opportunity for the City to support the development of the world game in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
“Soccer is one of the largest team sports in our community and the most participated junior sport in Australia,” he said.
“The organisers have clearly gone above and beyond when thinking of ways to get the community involved. This large scale event encompasses a 9 day program of soccer activations at multiple venues throughout the city.
“I encourage all members of our community to take advantage of this unique opportunity and get involved – whether it be the young kids and youth having a kick around at KidsFest or YouthFest, to the parents learning about coaching or refereeing, to the whole family attending the National Premier League fixture.”
The Regional Cup Exhibition Match will take place at Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex on Saturday 14 April 2018. Entry is free for spectators.
