The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is calling for community groups and food trucks to be part of the 2018 Multicultural Festival, which is being held on Saturday 9 June 2018. .
The free, family event, which will be held in the popular twilight street festival format with al fresco dining areas and outdoor heating, aims to incorporate the many different cultures represented in Kalgoorlie-Boulder now and in the past.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the change to a street festival format had proven popular with the community in 2017, and the City’s events team was looking at ways to keep growing and improving the event.
“The Multicultural Street Festival is the City’s largest cultural celebration, and we’re always looking for ways we can improve our community events to ensure that they are fresh, fun and inclusive,” he said.
“This year our events team has been engaging with lots of different businesses and community groups to ensure there are new and different activities, as well as popular favourites. There will be beer and wine tasting and mulled wine available to purchase, as well as flavours from countries including Thailand, India, Mexico, Vietnam, Germany, Croatia, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Ghana and New Zealand locked in so far.
“There will also be some amazing live entertainment on offer, as well as a range of workshops and cultural activities and the launch of a new exhibition in the Goldfields Arts Centre Gallery for everyone to enjoy.”
