The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has welcomed the new, increased discounts to Qantas’ Local Residents Fares.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker and Mayor John Bowler both commended Qantas on their increased commitment to making return flights for residents more affordable.
“It’s great to see Qantas has taken this initiative further and increased the discount to 20% for our residents,” CEO John Walker said.
“Since the City first brokered the deal with Qantas in September last year we have seem not only the introduction of the discounted residents fares, but also a flow on effect to create a more competitive market across the board, with other airlines also reducing their fares.
“This is definitely a win for the community – people who choose to live and work in regional Australia, and especially in Kalgoorlie-Boulder shouldn’t be penalised – a last minute weekend trip to Perth shouldn’t cost the same as a return flight to London,” Mayor John Bowler said.
“The further discount to the local residents fares is definitely something we welcome, and I hope to see this initiative extended beyond the initial 12 month trial period.”
