The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has secured the hosting rights for the 2021 Sustainable Economic Growth in Regional Australia (SEGRA) conference.
The SEGRA Conference will be hosted in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in the second half of 2021, and is Australia’s premier conference on regional issues, and focuses on assisting regional, rural and remote Australia to source and identify the techniques, skills and issues they need to address to achieve successful economic growth and development.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the timing of SEGRA Conference would be an ideal opportunity to kickstart Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s COVID-19 economic recovery.
“This will be a great opportunity for our hospitality and tourism providers, with more than 300 delegates expected to attend, which will provide a healthy boost to our local economy,” he said.
“The experience, advice and calibre of presenters that SEGRA will bring to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, not to mention the knowledge we will be able to use to help develop and grow our local economy will be absolutely invaluable at this time.
“There will be a local consultative committee established in the coming weeks who working with the conference conveners to help ensure local context and issues are addressed both in the planning stages and in the conference program.
“There has already been strong support given to the conference by the State Government through the Goldfields Esperance Development Commission, and other key local stakeholders, with opportunities for local businesses and industry to get involved.”
