The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s 2019 Art Prize has now come to a close. This year’s successful event saw 219 art pieces submitted by 182 artists. Over 1,100 visitors from far and wide came to view the exhibition, and 24 works have been sold.
The piece voted as this year’s People’s Choice Award was entry 65, “Home is where the heart is”, by Sue Findlay.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said the high quality of works entered in this year’s Art Prize was a reflection of the high esteem in which the event is regarded.
“We have had such positive feedback from all the visitors to the exhibition, which is fantastic,” he said.
“Nearly 2000 people visited this year’s exhibition at the Goldfields Arts Centre, and to receive such fantastic feedback on the quality of the exhibition gives us a clear indication that the community values the Art Prize and the development of arts and culture in our City.”
