The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will be commencing upgrades to some of its pitches at the City’s premier sporting facility Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex. The upgrades are necessary because of the deteriation in quality of the grass surface and in anticipation of Perth Glory playing a pre-season A-League soccer match in August.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said, “The City acknowledges that there are issues with the turf surface at Ray Finlayson and a plan has been put forward to improve that over the coming 18 months. Closing two fields, Pitch 1 and Pitch 4, will allow for upgrades to be completed in time for the Perth Glory game and the Goldfields Soccer Association grand finals.”
Mr Walker added, “Changes will affect club bookings for 2019 winter sports season. Rugby sports will relocate to the Oasis Playing Fields. This will free up the southern pitch, and allow for games scheduled by the Goldfields Soccer Association on Pitch 1 and Pitch 4 to be relocated to the southern pitch.”
“Remedial works with commence immediately on Pitch 4 to address poor drainage. Pitch 1 will be over seeded to improve turf quality to present a field at its best for the Perth Glory game and Goldfields Association finals. Pitch 1 will be in play from August and Pitch 4 won’t be back in play till 2020 season.” Mr Walker also said.
