The Department of Commerce has confirmed that the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will have year round Sunday trading, after the legislation is gazetted on Tuesday next week.
The Department confirmed to City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor John Bowler today that the requested trading hours of 9am until 2pm on Sundays had been approved, and would be in place from Sunday 24 March 2019.
“I was delighted to hear today that our request for Sunday trading, which will bring Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s retail trading hours into line with most other cities in Western Australia, had been approved,” Mayor Bowler said.
“The Order to amend the trading hours will be gazetted on Tuesday, and this will tell us when Sunday trading can commence.
“This is fantastic news for our community, who showed really strong support for Sunday trading during the consultation process, with nearly 90% of respondents in favour of the change.
“We will be working to make this a success for our local retailers, and will look at initiatives like more live entertainment in the shopping precincts during Sunday trading hours.”
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will also be working with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support local retailers through the #shopLoKal campaign.
