The Goldfields Arts Centre has secured the prestigious Opera Australia production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly,
which will be performed for one show only on Tuesday, 27 August 2019.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker said securing the Opera Australia show was a massive coup for the City and the Goldfields Arts Centre, and showed that the facility was once again a significant player in the arts and cultural scene.
“It has been 15 years since Opera Australia last performed at the Goldfields Arts Centre, and being able to bring them back to Kalgoorlie-Boulder is the result of many months of hard work and coordination on behalf of the City,” he said.
“Opera Australia is the national opera organisation, and bringing them here is not only providing local audiences with a world class show, but also providing local students with an opportunity to work with Opera Australia, and members of the John Paul College Choir will be singing with chorus as part of the performance.
“This is a wonderful once in a lifetime opportunity for the local choir and their director, Graham Greene, as they will not only be working with cast members of Opera Australia but also accompanying their live orchestra.” “
Puccini’s Madama Butterfly
is a favourite amongst many, including myself, and it will be enjoyed by long-time fans of opera as well as new audiences.”
Tickets go on sale Monday, 29 April 2019 at 10am, and range from $99 for VIP tickets including a post show function, to $59 for pensioner and concession. They can be purchased in person at the Goldfields Arts Centre Box Office, by calling 9021 0999 and online.
