The Kalgoorlie Golf Course will be transformed into a luxury resort destination offering a 120 room hotel, day spa, function room, restaurant operated by the world renowned Double Tree by Hilton brand. The long awaited member’s Clubhouse will also be completed.
The announcement is made by City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker, Hilton Vice President Development, Australasia, Rob Scullin, and Principal Pacifica Development, John Zendler.
The Double Tree by Hilton brand is a full service category, offering a 24/7 service to patrons. Started in Scottsdale Arizona in 1969 there are now over 510 Double Tree by Hilton operated hotels in the world. There are currently 4 Double Tree by Hilton operated hotels in Australia, with an additional one being constructed in Perth, set to be opened in 2020. The Kalgoorlie Golf Course Resort is expected to be completed in late 2019.
CEO John Walker said he is “Thrilled to have reached agreement for such a strong global brand to operate the hotel. Part of a worldwide network, with a global booking service and marketing support it will be a real advantage to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the success of the resort.”
“This is just another step in the journey. Final plans are expected in less than two weeks and concept plans have already been received. It is an exciting design that reflects the Goldfields.”
Hilton Vice President Development, Australasia Rob Scullin is in Kalgoorlie for the announcement. Director Pacifica Development, John Zendler said “We are delighted to bring this global brand to the project and know it will bring the quality of operation the project deserves.”
Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor John Bowler added “Since being elected Mayor I have maintained a focus on achieving what council set out to do many years ago. I see this as a significant contribution to our liveability.”
The Kalgoorlie Golf Course is a premier, 18 hole grass golf course designed by top course designer Graham Marsh. Currently ranked #20 in Australia's top 100 Public access courses.
