Nominations are now open for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder 2023 Walk of Fame and Australia Day Awards.
This year’s community awards will feature the introduction of a new category – the Senior of the Year Award.
2023 Australia Day Award Categories
• Citizen of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Youth Award
• Senior Award
• Event or Community Group of the Year
The Australia Day Awards are open to City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder residents and community organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to our community or had a significant achievement in 2022.
Mayor John Bowler said the Awards are the best way to recognise amazing individuals and community groups who have gone above and beyond in 2022 to help others and make Kalgoorlie-Boulder a better place to live.
“We all know someone who deserves recognition, and my message is don’t assume they will be nominated by another person. If in doubt, it’s better to have two nominations for the same person than none at all.”
“The Walk of Fame Working Group (who review nominations for both the annual Australia Day Awards and Walk of Fame) are excited to add the new Senior of Year Award category this year to recognise the outstanding work of those of retirement age who are still dedicating their time to making a difference in our community.”
“By recognising individuals and groups for their contribution to our community, we continue to foster the incredible culture of volunteerism and giving that has long existed in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.”
“It is not an onerous nomination process and City staff are available to assist. I encourage everyone to think about a friend, colleague, or fellow resident who should be recognised for all they do,” Mayor Bowler said.
In addition to the annual awards, which generally reflect on work and achievements in the 2022 year, the Working Group are also seeking nominations for the Walk of Fame, which recognises historical contributions to the community.
Walk of Fame inductees are recognised with a plaque installation on Hannan street.
All nominations must be received by 4.30pm Friday 2 December 2022.

Award winners will be announced at the City’s Australia Day Celebrations in January next year.
