Australia Day Nominees Announced

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is proud to announce the individuals and groups nominated for this year’s Australia Day Awards.

The Awards recognise residents and community organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to our community or had a significant achievement in 2022. This year includes the introduction of a new category - the Senior of the Year Award.

Citizen of the Year

Volunteer of the Year

  • Peter Young
  • Lorinda Burditt
  • Robin Bowden
  • Graeme Cocks

Community Group or Event of the Year

  • Saint Barbara’s Festival
  • Salvation Army Youth Team/The Shed
  • YMCA Goldfields
  • Kalgoorlie Desert Race
  • The Round Kalgoorlie Inc

Mayor John Bowler said the City’s working group for the Australia Day Awards and Walk of Fame were pleased to receive a high number of nominations this year.

“It’s fantastic to see people taking the time to nominate those in our community who have made a significant difference in our community and deserve recognition.”

“This year’s nominees have made an impact across various areas of our community, including migration, youth or senior services and support, volunteerism, and animal welfare. Several have also been integral to the establishment of significant community events and projects.“

“Although not all nominees will win the Award on the day, they are all truly well deserving, and we thank them for their contribution to our city,” Mayor Bowler said.

Australia Day Award winners will be announced at a special ceremony on at this year’s Great Aussie Breakfast, from 7am at Centennial Park – with the Citizenship ceremony and Australia Day Awards commencing at 8.30am.

This year’s Walk of Fame inductees will be announced on the evening of Australia Day, at the City’s Sunset Concert event at Centennial Park, commencing at 6pm.
