The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has finalised preparations for the e-scooter 12-month trial with providers Beam Mobility and Bird Ride, issuing them with a permit to commence operating in the city.

The approval for the permit follows months of preparation and consultation with residents to inform details such as slow and no ride zones, safety procedures, and parking stations.

Each provider will now commence operating in the city in their own time and will be responsible for liaising with and informing the community about how to hire their scooters, terms and conditions of hire, fee information and for addressing and resolving complaints.

Acting CEO David Trevaskis said the City was pleased with how the pre-trial preparations had been undertaken by each provider and is now excited to see the trial commence.

“The City as well as each provider has undertaken consultation with residents at a community workshop and also sought feedback from stakeholders to ensure the mapping was supported and all feedback had been considered.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing this very popular modern mode of transport in our city and working with both providers to ensure residents have a good experience throughout the trial,” he said.

More information about the e-scooter trial and how to hire from each provider (once they commence operating) is available on the city’s website www.ckb.wa.gov.au or https://yoursay.ckb.wa.gov.au/e-scooter-12-month-trial
