Youth Precinct Master planning will commence shortly with the recent engagement of Playce who will work collaboratively with MCG Architects to develop a space designed for youth and the community at the City’s Kingsbury and Lord Forrest Parks.
Playce comes with proven strategies to extensively facilitate consultation with youth on this exciting new development.
Youth Mayor Emily Coate said the Youth Council’s involvement in the project so far has been very rewarding for them.
“Kalgoorlie-Boulder youth are one step closer to getting the redevelopment off the ground and this contract marks an important milestone,” said Miss. Coate.
With a proven track record in successfully delivering youth precinct projects across Western Australia (WA), most notably Australia’s largest Youth Precinct currently under construction in the City of Bunbury, Playce was awarded the contract not only for their wide-ranging experience designing skate and play spaces but for their successful history working in WA.
Playce promises to deliver a space that has something for everyone including a completely reimagined skate park, innovative architecture, integrated customised play and components that enrich the youth experience.
The Director of Playce, Aaron Wallis said they are very excited to be working with the young people of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
“We are looking forward to creating a space that is relevant, fun and socially inclusive not only for young people but the broader community too,”
“We understand the importance of creating designs that allow opportunities for youth to hang out and socialise while also providing them access to a diverse range of fun and engaging recreation options to enjoy,” said Mr. Wallis.
Acting CEO Alex Wiese said the submission presented by Playce provides a very extensive and impressive portfolio of work.
“The collaborative process Playce has arranged to engage with youth in our community is exciting and I am confident that the precinct facilitates will meet the needs and aspirations of Kalgoorlie-Boulder youth,” said Mr. Wiese.
The McGowan Government committed $2.1 million towards the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct at the 2021 State election and the Youth Precinct Master Plan will be presented to Council in March for their consideration.
