The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has unveiled a new entry statement today which will be installed at the three entry points to the city.

The new design features the artwork of First Nations artist Ms Regina Donaldson, who was commissioned by the City to complete the design for these installations.

The City in partnership with ArtGold, sought expressions of interest from local First Nations artists to make submissions for the project, leading to the selection of Ms Donaldson’s artwork.

The entry statement design features Ms Donaldson’s ‘Silky Pear’ concept in the lower section of the sign, with graphics of a mining dump truck and a gold panner in another section.

Mayor John Bowler says the new entry statement showcases the city’s distinctive natural environment of the Great Western Woodlands, kangaroos, and birds.

“The statement showcases a few of the most prominent symbols of our unique city and works to provide a sense of community and connection to country.”

“I would like to congratulate Ms Donaldson on her submission and for her dedication to this project.”

“The entry statement designs were due for an update and also formed part of the City’s Reconciliation Action Plan 2021-23 outcomes.”

“These welcoming entrance art installations will promote the positive features of the city; encouraging visitors to stop and enjoy some time exploring what the city has to offer.”

Ms Donaldson says she feels honoured her artwork was selected for the entry statement and will welcome people arriving into Kalgoorlie-Boulder on behalf of her ancestors, whilst sharing the stories of the local area.

The Entry Statements will be placed near the Menzies, Coolgardie, and Kambalda entrances to the City.
