Mayor John Bowler, Esther Roadnight and Craig Hicks are ready for Australia Day
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is set to hold the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony on Wednesday January 26, 2022 at 8AM at Centennial Park following the Rotary’s Great Aussie Breakfast.
Patrons are encouraged to head to the event from 7AM with a gold coin donation to enjoy a hot breakfast served by the combined Rotary clubs while perusing the classic Holden and Ford cars on display.
On behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Kalgoorlie and Boulder, Esther Roadnight OAM said the clubs are very pleased to once again provide a hearty breakfast to residents on Australia Day.
“This year sees the return of the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony taking place in the morning alongside the Rotary Brekky which will add a great dimension to the proceedings,”
“The brekky is a tradition provided by the Rotary Clubs of the City for over 20 years so we are very excited to see it come together again with the support of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the generosity of local businesses and Rotary volunteers on the day,” said Mrs Roadnight.
Several community groups will be in attendance selling drinks, lamingtons and other items to fundraise for the year ahead. To keep the little ones entertained while parents enjoy their breakfast, facilitated lawn activities will be set up.
City Mayor John Bowler will join the stage at 8AM to present the community’s new citizens with their citizenship certificates followed by the presentation of the Australia Day Awards to the deserving citizens that have been recognised for their efforts throughout 2021.
“I look forward to welcoming our new citizens and recognising the Kalgoorlie-Boulder citizens nominated for awards for their hard work and dedication to the community this past year and beyond,” said Mayor Bowler.
The Citizen of the Year award recipient of 2018 Doug Daws said it is a great honour to be recognised by fellow citizens for the work one puts into the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community.
“It is of course an unexpected but very welcome incentive to keep putting in the effort to support the future direction of the City and the people that live here,” said Mr Daws.
The City encourages everyone to come by and enjoy the breakfast and show support for our new citizens and Australia Day awardees.
