The City’s Charles Street Drainage Project Commences Next Week

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is excited to announce the Charles Street Drainage Project is set to commence on Tuesday 26 April 2022 with civil work spanning six (6) months and resurfacing set to be completed in September 2022.

These works include lowering the road, modifying the verges/crossovers to tie into the lowered roads; and changes to the intersection of Buller Street with Charles Street (to align with the new drainage channel on Charles Street).

The works will be split into five (5) separate sections of Charles Street to minimise access disruption to residents; however, all thru-traffic is not authorised for the duration of all phases.

Resurfacing of the road (from Maxwell St to Egan St) will take place in September 2022. As per the City’s Roads Resurfacing program, communication to residents will be provided via the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the contractor as the works draw closer to commencement.

City Mayor John Bowler expressed he is eager for this much needed work to get started.

“The significant inconvenience to the residents of Charles St due to the drainage problems is being reconciled with the lowering of the road,” said Mayor Bowler.

“This means the properties along Charles St will no longer be subject to damage and flooding when we get large downpours of rain in the winter months and sometimes even in the summer storms.”
