Waterwise OffersThe City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is proud to partner with Water Corporation to provide residents with the opportunity to take advantage of three water-saving offers as part of Water Corporation's 2021-22 Waterwise Towns program which launched during National Water Week.
The City has successfully run the Shower Swap Program over a two-year period which is now being extended to Coolgardie and Kambalda residents allowing them to swap up to two old, inefficient showerheads for waterwise alternatives.
Water Minister Dave Kelly believes the program is an incredibly effective way to help West Australians conserve our most precious resource.
"Providing easy, practical and cost-effective solutions to reducing household water use has already proven to be a successful approach - one I hope communities will embrace again, particularly during National Water Week,” Minister Kelly said.
Thousands of households in Kalgoorlie-Boulder will also receive comparative water use letters to show how their water use compares to others, with tips and advice to help them reduce their water use.
90 Kalgoorlie-Boulder households will continue to participate in a monitoring and evaluation program assessing water-efficient evaporative air-conditioning which began its trial 2020.
Acting CEO Alex Wiese said that residents are encouraged to take part in the program.
"Kalgoorlie-Boulder is heading to typically warmer months, which means the conservation of our precious water sources which is incredibly important,
"The evaporative air-conditioning program is an initiative that we are glad to support to improve the efficiency of air-conditioning water which will reduce water consumption & bills for our residents,” Mr. Wiese said.
The trial is expected to finish in March 2022, with preliminary results indicating water use can be reduced by 20 per cent while still effectively cooling homes.
Since 2013-14, the Waterwise Towns program has saved approximately 1.58 billion litres of precious water across regional Western Australian communities - equivalent to 702 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
Local offers are available until May 31, 2022, with the Showerhead Swaps available at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Administration Building on 577 Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie, from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
