72 Hour Rest Stop Area

The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder is proud to be a RV Friendly Town and offer a free 72-hour rest stop area for fully self-contained vehicles at Centennial Park (Corner of Patroni and Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie).

Situated within walking distance of local amenities, the rest stop is a short drive from the city centres of both Kalgoorlie and Boulder, as well as multiple tourist attractions.


This RV area is provided free of charge with a self-registration station. The area is patrolled daily by the City’s Rangers who enforce the conditions of use.

The following conditions apply:

  • All stays are to be no more than 72 hours in any 5-day period.
  • All RVs have their own onboard facilities.
  • All waste and grey water is to be retained in the vehicle for disposal at dump points.
  • No clothing are to be hung externally to dry.
  • Follow 'leave no trace' principles.
  • Please use waste and recycling facilities provided.
  • Tents, camper trailers, mini vans, back packer vans or the like are not permitted.
  • No fires are permitted.
  • No amplified music is permitted.
  • All campers must always follow reasonable directions from the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder Rangers. 
  • Pets must be kept on a leash and always restrained.
  • Animal waste must be collected and disposed of at refuse areas.
  • Portable generators are not permitted.

City Rangers are authorised to issue immediate move-on directions for non-compliance.

Lake Douglas Recreation Reserve

This reserve offers a 72 hour free campground and is located 13 Km from Centennial Park on Muncaster Road, Yilkari - Via Great Eastern Highway towards Coolgardie.

Town Halls & Guided Tours

Immerse yourself in local history by visiting the Town Halls, located in Kalgoorlie and Boulder, offering visitors a rewarding cultural experience.

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Heritage Services present guided tours of the Town Halls.  Join the local historian and take a step back in time to the early 1900s to experience the magnificent municipal edifice.

Costing:

  • Adults $10,
  • Concession $8
  • Children 16 years & younger are $4

Tours run approximately one hour and at the following times:

  • Kalgoorlie Town Hall
    • Monday and Wednesday at 10:30am
  • Boulder Town Hall
    • Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30am
  • Goldfields War Museum
    • Thursday at 1.30pm

Goldfields Oasis

The goldfields oasis boasts a range of aquatic facilities and heated swimming pools that are available for casual use.

The heated indoor pools, kids play pools, spas and sauna are a great option for if you’re looking for a relaxing way winding down after a long drive.
