CKB Art Prize 2024
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize returns for 2024 with artwork registrations starting on 1 April. CKB Art Prize invites artists from across Australia, aged 16 and up and working in all mediums to submit work with an Open Theme.
The annual Art Prize is an acquisitive visual arts exhibition, displaying work from multiple media. The artwork on display is created by local Kalgoorlie-Boulder artists as well as artists from across the Goldfields and Australia.
It is an acquisitive prize exhibition, with artists having the opportunity to win from the $40,000 prize pool of 10 categories.
Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a growing reputation for being a hub for regional arts and culture, influenced by a rich industrial heritage and diverse community. The Art Prize provides an opportunity to celebrate this artistic vibrancy and creativity within the local community and beyond.
This annual Art Prize has been running for over 30 years and has become an important occasion in the Western Australian arts calendar. Since 2018, the Goldfields Arts Centre has been the home of the Art Prize exhibition, allowing the exhibition space to grow, providing opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in a premier arts facility of the Goldfields.
Since its inception, the City has made significant improvements to the annual Art Prize, including an increased prize pool, skill-building initiatives, and a focus on producing a contemporary exhibition which attracts artwork submissions Australia wide.
As a result of these changes, the Art Prize has seen much success over the years, with over 300 people attending the awards evening, and almost 2,000 people visiting the exhibition every year.
