Traineeships and Apprenticeships

If you have a fantastic attitude, good communication skills, and an eagerness to gain new skills and knowledge, then applying for an Apprenticeship or Traineeship could be your next step.
Our Apprenticeship and Traineeship program gives you an opportunity to study, gain hands-on experience in your chosen field - all while getting paid to do something you enjoy!
All trainees and apprentices are assisted through our on-boarding process and supported during their entry into the workforce. Each trainee or apprenticeship are allocated a mentor who will assist them during their program and throughout their career journey with the City.

Traineeships
Each year, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder hosts a number of trainees who are placed in a range of disciplines across the organisation.
In the past, these areas have included:
- Communications
- Information Technology
- Community Development
- Environmental Health
- Finance
- People and Culture
- Sports, Recreation and Leisure Facilities
Currently available traineeships:
Most traineeships are for a period of 12 months and at the end of your studies, you will have achieved a certificate in your chosen field.
Apprenticeships
An apprentice is employed with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for four years. During this time, you will work alongside experienced qualified tradespeople.
Formal off-the-job training will be provided through Central Regional TAFE and at the end of the apprenticeship you will obtain a Trade Certificate in your chosen field.

First Nations Apprenticeships
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder commenced a First Nations Traineeship program in 2022. The program is designed to provide trainees with mentoring support from City mentors who have undertaken a specific Cultural Training Awareness and Mentoring Program.
