The Business Streetscape Project

The Business Streetscape Project will improve the accessibility and aesthetics of the City’s Central Business Districts, whilst stimulating activation and supporting investment and renewal of local heritage buildings.

This is an integrated approach, designed to facilitate economic, tourism and heritage outcomes for the City including:

Accessibility: Build an accessible and inclusive community for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Aesthetics: Enhance the aesthetic appeal of our streetscape in both Kalgoorlie and Boulder Central Business Districts.

Activation: Bring new life into the Central Business Districts

Heritage: Support investment and renewal of Heritage Buildings.

What does the project consist of?

The project consists of three funding programs to help facilitate improvements to building shopfronts that are both heritage and non-heritage listed.

Who can apply?

Eligibility, funding timeframes and guidelines will vary for each of the above programs.

Applications will considered from businesses, organisations, property owners, tenants (with property owner approval) and strata bodies with established businesses located within the Kalgoorlie and Boulder Central Business District area.

Applicants can apply for one grant from each program stream, and funding from all three can be accessed within the same calendar year.

Applications will be assessed on the ability of the works to enhance the space and make an immediate positive impact to the appearance and usability of the area.

The Programs

Shopfront Enhancement Program

Up to $2,000 per application | 1/3 applicant contribution

Designed to assist with small scale improvements to shopfronts to enhance the presentation of a building, attract visitors, contribute to amenity, or make a creative contribution to shop frontage.

Access Improvement Program*

Up to $5,000 per application | 1/3 applicant contribution

Support businesses to improve accessibility and inclusion to their shop.

This program is currently under review. Funding above the amount stated may be considered on a case by case basis.

Heritage Fund

Up to $10,000 per application | 1/3 applicant contribution

Promote the revitalisation of heritage buildings and support tourism outcomes for businesses in the Central Business Districts.
