Who are the judges this year?

The Art Prize is judged by a panel of 3 art professionals who are well qualified and experienced in the visual arts. Chosen judges have professional careers in the arts and are well versed in understanding the creative process.

The 2026 judges will be announced shortly.

What are the judges looking for?

Judges will be looking for a strong combination of originality and technical skill. It’s also important to think about what message your artwork is delivering and the impact it will have on the audience.

What is the judging process?

Entries are assessed against clearly defined criteria by an independent judging panel. After reviewing the works individually, the judges come together to discuss their assessments and reach a unanimous decision on the best works in each category.

The major award receives additional consideration. Each judge selects their top three pieces, which are then discussed by the panel before a final decision is made by majority vote.

How are the winners notified?

Winners will be announced at the Awards Night, and attendance is by invitation only. Art Prize entrants will receive two tickets per person to attend the Awards Night. All artists are encouraged to attend as the Major Acquisitional Prize is only claimable if the artist or their representative is in attendance.
