Local History Archives

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s History and Heritage Unit is home to local history archives and houses a wide collection of council documents, historical books and videos, microfiche index of births, deaths and marriages since 1841, microfiche Pioneers index, Legislative Assembly role since 1904 and various Goldfields’ Newspapers since 1895 on microfilm.

The Local History Archives are located in the Boulder Town Hall and are open Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm (excluding public holidays). For more information, contact (08) 9021 9817 or mailbag@ckb.wa.gov.au.

Specialist Library

We have over 200 books in our specialist library, dealing with Goldfields Local History and wars in which Australia has played a role.

Our books can be located within the Library catalogue where you can search for a book. Please select the Kalgoorlie Town Hall from the drop down menu to narrow your search to our collection.

State Library of Western Australia

The State Library of Western Australia collects material for heritage, reference and public library collections. Specialist collections include Indigenous history, family history, children's literature and music.

Picture Australia

Picture Australia is an Internet based service that allows you to search several online pictorial collections at the same time.

Curtin University Library

The Curtin University Library has many historical records and publications that are available to the public.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Cemetery Board and Boulder Pioneer Cemetery

The Kalgoorlie Boulder Cemetery is located at 23 Parsons Street, Lamington. The Cemetery is open daily to visitors from 9:30am to 11:00am, and 12:00pm to 3.00pm.

The Boulder Pioneer Cemetery is located on LOT 322 Goldfields Highway, and is open daily to visitors.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM Australia)

Australia is a member of ICOM and therefore subscribes to their mission and purpose. The International Council of Museums Australia (ICOM Australia) is a part of the global network of museum and heritage professionals committed to the world’s natural and cultural heritage. As a branch of the ICOM based in Paris, it represents the international interests of its member museums and museum professionals across Australia and nearby regions.

International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMAS Australia)

The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMAS) is an association of professionals dedicated to the conservation of the world’s cultural heritage.

ICOMAS works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places. It is the only global non-government organisation of this kind, which is dedicated to promoting the application of theory, methodology and scientific techniques to the conservation of cultural heritage.

The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM)

The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM) is the professional body for conservators in Australia.  Promoting the science and art of the conservation of cultural material as well as looking to improve the scientific and technical knowledge of the profession.  Professional conservators can be contacted through the quick link on this page, should you require information on looking after your heritage objects.
