The following information will help you with your application and inform you about our recruitment and selection process.

Preparing your application

To give your application the best chance of success, carefully read the job advertisement and position description. You will need to prepare a cover letter and resume to apply for the role.

Cover letter

Your cover letter should be no more than two pages. Ensure you refer to the job advertisement for specific information on what your application needs to include. You will need to address the selection criteria with examples of your experience in relation to the skills required for the role.

Resume

Your resume should include your contact details, a concise description of relevant work experience and dates of your employment, your education, qualifications and training, and the details of at least two referees who can attest to your skills and experience.

Lodging your application

All applications must be submitted via our website at ckb.wa.gov.au/employment.

Unfortunately, late applications will not be accepted, so it’s important your application is submitted by the date and time stated in the advertisement.

Recruitment process

We seek to attract and retain people who will positively contribute to the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and our community.

Our recruitment process is open, transparent, and free from bias and discrimination. Canvassing Councillors will disqualify the applicant from the recruitment process.

Our selection process assesses the candidates’ skills, experience and knowledge in relation to the job requirements and will initially be assessed based on the information provided in your cover letter and resume.

Interviews

After the initial review of applications, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview.

Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements for attending an interview.

You will be notified of the outcome of your application as soon as possible after the interview.

Preferred applicant

If you are the preferred applicant, background checks will be carried out. This will include a National Police Clearance, Australian Citizenship or Permanent Resident status confirmation, and qualification and employment history checks. We will also speak with your referees.

The preferred applicant will need to undergo a pre-employment medical to ensure you are fit and able to perform the duties inherent to the role.
