Mayor's Winter Warmth Appeal

The Mayor's Winter Warmth Appeal (formerly Mayor's Blanket Appeal) is annual appeal coordinated by Mayor John Bowler with the support of a working group with members from local churches, knitting groups and not for profit organisations.

This year we have extended donations to include other winter times and accessories, hence the revised name (Mayor’s Winter Warmth Appeal). No one should go cold in our town, and we are seeking the support of all community members, organisations and businesses to assist with this year’s efforts.

How to get involved

Donations

We’re seeking donations  of the below items (new or good used condition):

  • Blankets
  • Weatherproof jackets
  • Beanies
  • Scarves
  • Gloves

Wool

We also have several community organisations who get together to knit items, including Dizzy Fingers at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre, Goldfields Yarn, Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison and more. Do you have wool at home that is collecting dust? or can you purchase wool to donate? These donations are much appreciated.

Assist with promotion

Can you help spread the word about the Appeal and the donations that are needed? Ideas include your staff newsletters, noticeboards, communications to members, social media channels? Can you coordinate a donation drive at your workplace?

Download the posters below.

Monetary Donations

We also accept monetary donations to purchase wool for our team of knitters. If you wish to donate to this cause, please use the following bank account details:
