City hosts Community Feedback Forum for Seniors

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is inviting all senior residents to a Community Forum this Wednesday at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre.

Senior residents have the opportunity to complete an online or hard copy survey conducted by the City, to provide feedback on senior services and how the City and local service providers can help senior residents live happier, healthier lives.

At this Wednesday’s forum, the City will discuss progress made as part of the Age-Friendly Strategy and reaffirm the priorities of senior residents who live in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Attendees will have an opportunity to complete a survey on the day and discuss their priorities in person with City representatives.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said since the development of the Age-Friendly Strategy, he is pleased with the progress that the City has made in relation to senior services and believes the Strategy has helped to foster positive relationships.

“It is great to have the opportunity to check in with seniors in person, listen to their concerns, and continue to make positive changes.”

“The City has worked extensively with seniors and senior service providers over the last two years to review existing services and programs, make necessary adjustments, and improve communication.”

“We took onboard the initial feedback provided last year, which highlighted a need for additional support and more tailored activities and services.”

“The City has since initiated a Seniors Focus Group to better understand current needs and guide decision-making. We have also introduced multiple programs, including technology classes, self-defence classes, day outings and reinstated the In-Centre Meals at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre.”

“These efforts were acknowledged last year when the City received the Local Government Professionals’ Connecting Communities Award.”

“The City’s connection with senior residents has improved over time, and we hope it will strengthen even more in the future.”

The results from the survey will be presented and discussed at a roundtable with senior service providers on 13 February, and opportunities to further enhance services and programs will be identified.

This Wednesday’s Seniors Community Forum is open to senior residents who live in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, their families, and caregivers. The Forum will start at 10am, at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre on Roberts Street.

Following the Forum, Seniors are invited to stay for the In-Centre Meal. Pre-bookings for the meal can be made by calling 9021 9801.
