City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Manager of Information Communication & Technology, Alyce Spokes, was announced as the winner of the Outstanding Senior Leadership Award by Women in Technology WA (WiTWA) last week.
WiTWA's Outstanding Senior Leadership Award recognises women in technology who demonstrate exceptional excellence in leadership, communication, and strategic vision. Ms. Spokes stood out among the impressive field of nominees for her outstanding contributions to the tech sector.
Alyce has been an invaluable asset to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for four years, bringing a wealth of expertise in strategic IT services and project management. Beyond her role at the City, she is also an accomplished small business owner, and a source of inspiration as a mother of five.
Last year, Ms. Spokes initiated a working group comprising local government IT Managers. This platform provides a forum for discussing emerging trends and addressing critical issues in the IT sector, showcasing her commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the industry.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor Glenn Wilson said Ms Spokes's unwavering passion for helping others was evident through her role as a dedicated mentor, guiding aspiring individuals towards success.
“Alyce has played a leading role in the delivery of some of the City’s critical projects, including the recent CCTV upgrades across the CBD, the development of the technical components of the Kal City Centre project, and the development of the City’s strategic ICT roadmap,” Mayor Wilson said.
“She actively supports women within the City, advocating for their participation in high-visibility projects and leadership opportunities. She ensures that they receive recognition for their contributions and advocates for their promotion and career progression.”
“This award acknowledges Alyce’s outstanding leadership contributions to the technology sector, celebrating her commitment to creating a collaborative environment within local government and her ongoing dedication to mentorship; it is a testament to her vision for a more inclusive and innovative future for the technology sector”.
The WiWA Awards event took place in Perth last week, marking a quarter-century of celebrating tech innovation, inspiration, and empowerment among women in tech.
