The City is pleased to announce the opening of expressions of interest for the development and potential demolition of the strategically located 101 Brookman Street (Lot 500), a 1.5175ha parcel of land at the heart of the Kalgoorlie Central Business District (CBD).

Situated in close proximity to the State heritage-listed Kalgoorlie Town Hall and Endowment Block, and adjacent to the redevelopment of St Barbara’s Square as part of the Kal City Centre Project, this site offers a unique opportunity for visionary developers to contribute and work with the City on the revitalisation and growth of the Kalgoorlie CBD.

Mayor Glenn Wilson expressed his excitement about the future of 101 Brookman Street, stating the new town planning scheme opens a world of possibilities for the land’s future use and its integration into the surrounding area.

"Now that the City officially owns the site, we have commenced planning for its future, and this starts with understanding interest and capacity from the private sector and Government in working or partnering with the City to see the site fully developed."

"The expression of interest process is only the beginning. We are in the very early stages of planning, and this process provides a starting point for Council and the community to consider a future direction for the site and its future development."

Mayor Wilson emphasised the City's commitment to community input as an important part of Council’s decision-making. He said, “There will be many opportunities for community consultation before decisions are made by Council."

"The City has always seen the strategic value and importance of the site and is committed to exploring its best use and how it will incorporate the local area plan for the Kalgoorlie CBD.”

“This will include a focus on activation and safety, so our main street continues to thrive.”

"There’s no better time than now to invest in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and we look forward to receiving interest in what the future possibilities could feature for this important site."

The City looks forward to receiving expressions of interest and ideas, which will be shared with the community in due course.

For more information on the current expression of interest for development and potential demolition works, visit the City’s website. Submissions close at 5pm, Saturday 9 March 2024.
