Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) 

Why is the City implementing PRIS?

The City is committed to protecting the privacy of our community while continuing to deliver quality services. PRIS strengthens how we manage personal information by introducing consistent privacy practices and clear responsibilities across the organisation.

What is personal information?

Personal information is information or an opinion about an identifiable individual, whether true or not and whether recorded in a material form or not. Examples include your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth or other information that can identify you.

Why does the City collect personal information? 

We collect personal information so we can:

• Deliver Council services.
• Process applications and requests.
• Communicate with you.
• Meet our legal obligations.
• Perform the functions of local government.

How does the City protect my information?

The City uses administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorised access, misuse, loss, alteration or disclosure. Access is limited to authorised employees and service providers who require the information to perform their duties.

Will my information be shared?

Your information will only be shared where:

• You have provided consent.
• It is authorised or required by law.
• It is necessary to deliver a service.
• It is permitted under the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) or other applicable legislation.

Can I access or correct my personal information?

Yes. You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information, subject to applicable legislative requirements.
