The Role

As our Communications and Media Officer, you’ll plan and develop engaging content, with a focus on public relations and media liaison, to promote and effectively communicate information about City services, programs, and initiatives across multiple channels and platforms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the development, implementation, and delivery of public relations initiatives in line with the City’s Marketing and Communications
    Strategy and organisational objectives.
  • Ensure timely communications and media liaison including – writing of media releases, media responses, and statements as well
    organising press calls when required.
  • Prepare speech notes and ensure all aspects of public relations are planned and prepared for City events and functions.
  • Produce high-quality content to support the maintenance of the City’s communication and marketing across multiple channels including
    social media, print publications, and the website.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and effective multi-channel communication and marketing campaigns to
    support City facilities, programs, and initiatives and improve their profile and operating potential.
  • Maintain and moderate conversations and feedback on social media channels.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage
  • Monitor, evaluate, and produce reports as required on the management and performance of marketing and communication activities and
    digital and social media channels.
  • Develop and maintain relevant platforms to enhance and support the internal communications needs of the City.
  • Work collaboratively and maintain relationships with stakeholders, media, and team members to support the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s
    public relations activities.

Who we are Looking for:

To be considered for this position, you will need:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to develop and implement a variety of promotional activities
    across multiple online and traditional channels.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective and engaging content marketing strategies across different platforms.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external customers at all levels including media and suppliers.
  • High attention to detail with demonstrated editing and proofreading skills.
  • High level of computer literacy, including experience in using marketing analytics tools, social media monitoring, and the Adobe Creative
  • Ability to take complex ideas and simplify them into messages audiences can understand and relate to.
  • Tertiary qualification communications, public relations or marketing or equivalent work experience (2 years minimum)
  • Current satisfactory National Police Clearance
  •  Current WA “C” Class driver’s license

    Total Package

    Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position ranges between $73,900 - $79,989.
