The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s much-loved Multicultural Festival returns this Saturday, 7 June, transforming Cassidy Street and the surrounding Lord Forrest Precinct into a vibrant hub of food, music, and mix of cultures.

Running from 3pm to 8pm, the free, family-friendly event will feature a global array of food stalls, live performances, face painting, dance workshops, and a dedicated Cultural Village showcasing handmade goods and community stalls.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the Festival has become one of the city’s most anticipated events.

“Every year, the Multicultural Festival reminds us just how diverse and welcoming Kalgoorlie-Boulder is,” Mayor Wilson said. “We’re a community made up of people from all corners of the globe, and this event is a celebration of that – of the stories, food, music, and traditions that shape who we are.”

“What I love most is the way it brings people together. Whether you’ve lived here all your life or just arrived, everyone’s welcome.”

More than one in three Kalgoorlie-Boulder residents were born overseas, and the Festival is a chance to recognise the many cultures that call our city home.

This year, the newly introduced Cultural Village will offer a more interactive experience, with dance lessons, henna tattoos, and opportunities to connect with local cultural groups.

Mayor Wilson also thanked the community groups, volunteers, performers, and City staff who make the event possible each year.

“It’s thanks to the people behind the scenes that we can continue to offer this free event for our community – and it wouldn’t be what it is without their passion and hard work.”

“I encourage all residents to join us in supporting local performers and food vendors who have put in an enormous amount of time and effort to make this year’s event unforgettable.”

The Festival is proudly supported by Northern Star Resources and Evolution Mining.

To safely host the event, Cassidy Street (between Brookman Street and MacDonald Street) will be closed to traffic from 10am to 10pm. Residents and businesses in the area are advised there will be increased noise from music and performances throughout the afternoon and evening.

Parking will be available at the Goldfields Arts Centre car park and surrounding streets.

More information about the event is available on the City’s website
