The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will award a total of $649,679 in new grants under the City’s 2022/23 Annual Grant Program.
Elected members (at yesterday’s Council meeting) resolved to approve the significant amount, which saw 18 successful applicants out of the 22 applications received this year.
This amount is in addition to existing three-year service agreements, which when considered brings the City’s current total Annual Grant funding to $819,339 for the 2022/23 financial year.
Mayor John Bowler was proud to see a promising increase in applications this year.
“The City’s Annual Grant Program has supported not for profit organisations for many years and assists them to continue making a difference in our community every day,” Mayor Bowler said.
“As a Council we are proud to be in a financial position to provide this substantial funding towards worthy initiatives, events, and services which contribute to the City's quality of life.”
“We received many exceptional applications for the 2022/23 year, with successful recipients providing services to a range of community members, from pre-school age to seniors, to those with sporting interests to arts and culture and more,” he said.
“We’re pleased to be contributing towards a $3 million purpose-built accommodation facility at the Goldfields Women’s Refuge, for people facing homelessness and seeking refuge from family violence situations”
“There’s also a range of projects funded to improve access to youth recreational programs, in an effort to increase engagement and improve health and wellbeing,” he said.
Amongst other projects funded are Goldfields Pride and Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre events, $105,000 towards stadium lighting upgrades at the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association, and the purchasing of new equipment for the Kalgoorlie Volleyball Association.
Successful applicants and projects align with the City’s Strategic Community Plan 2020-30.
