Registrations are now open for the 2026 City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize, inviting artists aged 16 years and over to submit works in any medium under an open theme.

Now in its fourth decade, the City of Kalgoorlie‑Boulder Art Prize is an annual acquisitive visual arts exhibition that celebrates creativity across painting, sculpture, photography, textiles and mixed media. Each year, it showcases a diverse range of works by artists from Kalgoorlie‑Boulder, the Goldfields and beyond.

Since 2018, the exhibition has been held at the Goldfields Arts Centre, giving artists the opportunity to present their work in a professional gallery setting and connect with local audiences and visitors to the region.

The 2026 Art Prize will feature 10 categories and a total prize pool of $40,000, including the popular People’s Choice Award, which gives the community a chance to have their say.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the Art Prize continues to reflect and celebrate the exceptional creative talent within our community.

“The City’s Art Prize is one of the highlights of our events calendar. It’s always exciting to see the range of ideas, stories and perspectives that come through in the work,” Mayor Wilson said.

“Whether you’ve entered before or you’re thinking about giving it a go for the first time, I’d really encourage you to get involved. This is your chance to share your work, connect with others and be part of something that the whole community gets behind.”

To help make participation more accessible, the City will again offer a free freight pick-up service for artworks from Perth, Esperance, Merredin, Laverton, Leonora and Menzies.

Mayor Wilson said the initiative removes a key barrier for regional artists and supports broader participation.

“We know getting work to Kalgoorlie-Boulder can be a challenge, particularly for artists outside the region. This is a practical way we can support artists and make sure the Art Prize is open to as many people as possible,” he said.

Registrations open on Monday, 30 March 2026 and close on Friday, 29 May 2026.

The exhibition will open with an Awards Evening on Friday 11 September 2026, with artworks on public display from Saturday 12 September to Friday 16 October 2026 at the Goldfields Arts Centre.

The 2026 City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize is proudly supported by Northern Star Resources.
