The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is hosting a series of workshops across the Goldfields Region from June 12-16 to help employers fill critical skills shortages in the region.

As the Goldfields representatives for the Federal Government’s Goldfields Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) program, the City’s ‘DAMA Roadshow’ will provide employers, recruiters, business and community leaders with more information about how the program can help with their workforce needs.

The program allows employers to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers in specified industries that are currently experiencing critical skill and labour shortages.

Occupations in the DAMA include childcare, aged and disability workers, engineers, chefs, and other occupations that are not available under standard visa programs. Mayor John Bowler said the roadshow is an opportunity to highlight the success of the program and answer any questions attendees may have to assist with their particular situation.

“We know employers across the Goldfields Regions are facing critical staffing shortages and encourage them to find out how the DAMA and help fill these vacancies.”

“Come and talk to our Migration Agreement Officer who will have a range of information to answer your questions, and there will also be great opportunities to network with other employers at the event.”

“We are traveling to each Shire or City in the region to ensure everyone has the opportunity to attend a local session.”

“We particularly encourage Laverton representatives to attend, as the current application for the Shire of Laverton to join the DAMA program is currently with the Minister for approval.”

The DAMA Roadshow will be in Esperance and Ravensthorpe on 12 June, Dundas on 13 June, Laverton and Leonora on 14 June and Menzies on 15 June.

The Roadshow will conclude with a combined session for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Shire of Coolgardie in Kalgoorlie on 16 June.
