Look out for the 10c refund mark on bottles and cans – instead of binning them, you can return them to a local refund point and get your cash back. It’s a simple and effective way to keep valuable materials out of landfill and put money back into your pocket (or a good cause!).

In Kalgoorlie-Boulder, our local Containers for Change outlet is Return It, located at 5 Brooks Way, West Kalgoorlie.

The City’s Waste Station Program – Turning Rubbish Into Community Rewards

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is proud to run our Waste Station program at major events like Sunset Sounds, Multicultural Festival and KidsFest, in partnership with local sporting clubs and community groups.

At these events, instead of tossing your bottles and cans in the nearest bin, we invite you to bring them to our Waste Station. Volunteers from local groups will help sort the waste and collect any eligible 10c containers. They then cash in the containers to raise funds for their clubs and causes.

This program is a win-win-win:
Less waste to landfill
More containers recycled
Local groups benefit financially

Our Waste Station program has been such a success that it was recently recognised with the Community Containers for Change Award at the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards – a huge achievement for our city and the amazing volunteers who make it happen!
