Andrew Brien Appointed as New City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor, John Bowler, on behalf of Council, has announced the appointment of Mr. Andrew Brien as the City’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) commencing early next year.

The appointment follows an extensive recruitment process aimed at identifying a leader to work with Council and the Administration well into the future and provide stability to the City as the region undergoes a period of significant economic growth.  

“Mr. Brien has extensive skills as an executive in regional areas, having led regional councils in the eastern states as well as Bunbury. In his most current role as CEO of the City of Bayswater, Mr. Brien cemented the City’s reputation as an industry leader,” Mayor Bowler said.

“Mr. Brien is passionate about making a difference in regional Western Australia and has demonstrated he has the relevant aptitude to make a positive difference in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.”

During his time with the City of Bayswater, Mr. Brien was announced as the 2020 Leader of the Year in Local Government.

Mr. Brien led the City through a significant restructure to improve service delivery while focusing on an internal culture of support and excellence. His expertise and vision have left Bayswater as an innovative and efficient city, with remarkable growth potential.

“Council is looking forward to working with Mr. Brien to ensure the City continues to deliver on the Council and Corporate goals outlined in the Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan. We are confident his consistent leadership style and broad scope of experience will benefit Kalgoorlie-Boulder,” said Mayor Bowler.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the City’s Executive group for their strong teamwork and leadership over the last few months, keeping business running as usual, as Council has undertaken the recruitment process.”

The City and Council extend a warm welcome to Mr. Andrew Brien and await his arrival to Kalgoorlie-Boulder in the New Year.
