The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has officially welcomed its newly elected Council members following the 2025 Local Government Elections.
At a ceremony held last night at the historic Kalgoorlie Town Hall, five Councillors were sworn in before family, friends, and community members.
Those elected for a four-year term, ending in October 2029, are Ric Halse, Terrence Winner, Carla Viskovich, and Vanessa Walker-Dunstan.
Deborah Botica was elected for a two-year term, concluding in October 2027.
During the evening’s Special Council Meeting, Cr Terrence Winner was endorsed by Council as the new Deputy Mayor, taking over from Cr Kirsty Dellar, who continues to serve on Council.
Mayor Glenn Wilson congratulated the newly elected members and thanked outgoing Councillors for their service.
“Local government plays a vital role in shaping the future of our community, and I thank every candidate who put themselves forward in this election,” Mayor Wilson said.
“I would like to acknowledge and thank the previous Council for their service in representing the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Their efforts have provided us with a strong foundation to build upon as we move forward.”
“On behalf of the City, I would like to thank Cr Linden Brownley, who resigned following our last Ordinary Council Meeting, for his valuable experience and insights, particularly in addressing social and community matters within our City.”
“We also extend our gratitude to Cr Nardia Turner for her dedication and commitment throughout her term. Her contributions and level of engagement have been greatly appreciated and are commendable,” Mayor Wilson said.
The Mayor added that he looks forward to working with both new and returning Councillors as they continue to deliver positive outcomes for Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Deputy Mayor Winner thanked his fellow Councillors and said he was under no illusion about the challenges ahead.
“I’m very excited to be in this position to work more closely with Councillors and the Mayor, and see us get those projects that we want to see completed – completed.”
“I’ve been very fortunate over the last six years in particular, that I’ve been in positions and had opportunities to work closely with the Federal and State Governments on a number of different issues.”
I’m very keen and confident that we as a collective can get the outcomes that our community demands and needs, and put pressure on the levels of Government to support us to achieve that,” he said.
Full election results are available on the WA Electoral Commission website.
