Following the Minister for Local Government's formal consideration and in line with Council's 27 October 2025 resolution, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has released it's draft submission on a potential boundary change with the Shire of Coolgardie.
Prepared at the Minister's request, the submission outlines shared communities of interest, overlapping service delivery areas, and opportunities for stronger regional cooperation.
While Council has released the submission, it also did not form a position on a boundary adjustment. The submission outlined that, with any boundary adjustment proposed, residents must not be disadvantaged, unsustainable debt must not be inherited, and transparency is essential.
The City respects the Minister's decision to grant the Shire of Coolgardie twelve months to strengthen it's finances and remains focused on delivering for it's community.
