Council has endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI), formalising a shared commitment to revitalising and activating the City’s central business districts.
The MOU recognises the central role of Hannan Street and Burt Street in the identity and economic life of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, providing a clearer and more coordinated approach to supporting traders, attracting visitors, and driving initiatives that bring more life, energy, and economic activity into the City’s main streets.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the endorsement represented a positive and collaborative outcome for both organisations.
“The KBCCI is a trusted representative for local businesses, and this partnership strengthens how we share information and inform decision-making. Our goal is for our CBDs to feel welcoming, vibrant and safe, and this MOU is a major step toward achieving that vision.”
KBCCI Chief Executive Officer Simone de Been said the agreement reinforced the value of collaboration in strengthening the City’s central business districts.
“By working together, we can design and leverage initiatives which have a positive impact on visitation and spending in the CBDs, with a priority focus on Hannan and Burt Streets. We look forward to working with the City to achieve common goals,” she said.
With significant precinct planning underway through Commonwealth funding, the MOU will help ensure planning, investment and activation efforts are aligned, coordinated and grounded in local knowledge.
The agreement also provides a framework for planning, delivering and refining CBD activation initiatives through to 2028, ensuring the City’s central business districts remain a priority for both the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the KBCCI.
The MOU supports closer collaboration between the City and the KBCCI, helping ensure activation initiatives.
