Expressions of Interest Open for Three-Year Opportunity to Deliver New Year's Eve Community Celebration

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is inviting local not-for-profit organisations to express interest in leading the planning and delivery of the City’s annual New Year’s Eve Community Celebration from 2027 to 2029, through a three-year funding agreement.

This opportunity is open to eligible organisations with the ideas, energy and event delivery experience to design and deliver an inclusive, family-friendly and accessible celebration that brings the community together to welcome in the New Year.

The selected organisation will be encouraged to work alongside local groups, stakeholders and volunteers to help shape an event that reflects the spirit and diversity of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community.

Funding will be provided over the three-year period, with $65,000 available in Year 1, $55,000 in Year 2 and $45,000 in Year 3.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the City is keen to build on the success of the first City-supported New Year’s Eve celebration held last year.

“I think what last year showed us is that there’s real appetite in this community for a shared New Year’s Eve event where people can come together safely and celebrate locally,” Mayor Wilson said.

“For a long time, we’ve heard from residents that they wanted something more family-friendly and community-focused on New Year’s Eve, and last year was a really positive first step in responding to that.”

“There was a strong turnout, a great atmosphere, and really positive feedback from the community. Now we want to see that idea continue to grow and evolve.”

“This three-year opportunity is about building on that foundation, giving a local organisation the chance to continue shaping the event, making it something the community can look forward to every year.”

“We know there’s creativity and capability in our local community groups, and we’re excited to see what they come up with.”

The City encourages applicants to put forward creative event concepts. This could include family-friendly activities, local food vendors, live entertainment, markets, experiences for young people and a community countdown moment.

Expressions of Interest close at 5.00 pm on Monday, 3 August 2026.
