Goldfields DAMA extended to 30 June 2026 - Free Online Info Session for Employers

The Goldfields Designated Area Migration Agreement (Goldfields DAMA) has been extended to 30 June 2026, providing continued support for businesses across the region facing ongoing workforce shortages. 

To help Goldfields employers understand what this extension means and how to prepare for the transition to the state-wide WA Department of Training and Workforce Development (WA DAMA), the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is hosting a free online information session for employers and businesses across the Goldfields.  

The session will walk employers through the implications of the extension, what the transition to the WA DAMA will involve, and the steps businesses should take now to be ready.  

Industry representatives from government and migration organisations will be presenting, including representatives from:  

  • Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO) 
  • WA Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD)  
  • VETASSESS 

The session will cover: 

  • What the Goldfields DAMA extension means for employers 
  • How the transition to the WA DAMA will work 
  • Employer endorsement and sponsorship requirements 
  • Skills assessment pathways 
  • Practical steps employers should take during the transition period

Date: Tuesday, 31 March 2026 

Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm 

The session is free to attend, however registration is required.  Employers and businesses interested in accessing the DAMA program are encouraged to register. 

About the Goldfields DAMA Extension 

The Goldfields DAMA has been extended to 30 June 2026 following approval from the Department of Home Affairs.  

The extension allows time for the transition to the state-wide WA DAMA, which will be administered by the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development. 

During the transition period: 

  • The Goldfields DAMA will remain operational until 30 June 2026 
  • The City will continue accepting endorsement applications for new Labour Agreements and Deeds of Variation until Friday, 22 May 2026 
  • Existing Labour Agreements remain valid until their individual expiry dates 
  • Approved concessions and occupation ceilings under current agreements will continue to apply
