Goldfields Oasis recognised for excellence in the health and fitness industry

The Goldfields Oasis Recreation Centre has been acknowledged for its continuous dedication to enhancing standards of the health and fitness industry, acquiring re-accreditation with the AUSactive Quality Business Program.

The Accreditation Program formally recognises when a business meets the criteria and quality standards for the health and fitness industry in Australia. The assessment is conducted by an independent accreditation body and looks at business processes, procedures, and standards of service.

With a dedication to achieving the highest level of service and quality, the Oasis was recognised for not only meeting the rigorous standards of the accreditation body but exceeding them.

The Oasis particularly surpassed industry standards within the health and safety risk management pillars and areas within development and collaboration.

In addition to the re-accreditation, the Oasis has also been announced as finalists in the 2023 National Aus Active Awards for several categories including the Healthy Council Award, Leisure Centre of the Year, and Multiservice Business of the Year.

Mayor John Bowler congratulated the efforts of the Oasis team and said the recognition reaffirms the City’s commitment to delivering exceptional health and fitness services to the community.

“The Oasis caters to the needs of residents and members of all ages, from swim school to senior fitness and rehabilitation, it is wonderful to see one of our flagship community facilities recognised on the national stage,” Mayor Bowler said.

“The team’s dedication to ongoing improvement and adherence to the highest standards in the industry sets them apart as they continue to strive for excellence.”

“In 2023/24 the City is investing $2.5 million in building improvements at the Oasis, and we look forward to delivering further initiatives for the community.”

Initially receiving AUSactive accreditation in 2018, the Oasis was one of the first regional recreation centres to obtain such recognition.

To ensure health and fitness facilities continue to adhere to the set standards, audits to receive re-accreditation are conducted every three years, however, due to delay during the pandemic, the Oasis completed the audit this year.

In between the re-accreditation periods, the Oasis team works closely with the AUSactive Business Program to ensure the centre continues to meet industry standards.

The AUSactive National Award winners will be announced at the AUSactive Awards Gala event in Melbourne on 15 September 2023.
