Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s early childhood educators have been recognised and celebrated through the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Educator Grants, proudly funded by the Department of Communities.

In total, $25,000 was distributed, with each recipient awarded a grant of between $500 and $1,000. These grants provided practical support for personal accommodation, professional development, or, in the case of family day care educators, the purchase of new equipment to enhance their services. This investment recognises and supports the vital contribution of educators in shaping those who will be the future of our city.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the grants were an important way to acknowledge and support the sector.

“Our early childhood educators are more than teachers – they are mentors, carers, and community builders. They support families, enable parents to participate in the workforce, and most importantly, give our youngest residents the best start in life. It is only right that we acknowledge their efforts and invest in their well-being and growth,” he added.

“The number and quality of applications we received demonstrate just how fortunate we are in Kalgoorlie-Boulder to have such dedicated educators. These grants are a meaningful way of saying thank you and ensuring they feel supported to continue their vital work in our community.”

The grants were made possible through $25,000 in funding from the Department of Communities, a contribution Mayor Wilson said demonstrates the importance of the sector and reflects the City’s broader commitment to supporting the local workforce.

“We know attracting and retaining skilled people in Kalgoorlie-Boulder can be a challenge, and this program is another step towards making our city a supportive and sustainable place to live and work.”

The City congratulates all 32 successful grant recipients and extends its appreciation to every nominee for their ongoing contribution to our community and the difference they make in the lives of local children and families.
